HOW TO PREPARE

Spend some time reflecting on how you want these photos to speak to your ideal client. What 3 words would you use to describe you and your brand? Fresh, authentic, trustworthy, strong, free spirited, dynamic, energetic, soft, relaxed, approachable, glamorous, humble? Reflect these feelings in your appearance. Let your personality shine through.

WHAT TO WEAR

It’s good to be authentic. Think about how you want to represent yourself and your brand. What clothing reflects who are and what you represent. Bring along 3 clothing changes so you can have a variety of images in your gallery. Even just a few different jackets if you’re struggling. Also consider different necklaces or even glasses with different frames. Different textures can add visual interest to your images. Basic white or black looks sharp especially when paired with a jacket or statement necklace. Jewel colours look rich and luxurious. Don’t feel like you have to be very formal if that’s not your client or brand. A simple tee, a vintage dress, jeans - what ever will speak to your ideal client and also reflects you and make you feel good. If your clothing is ill fitting or not authentic you won’t feel relaxed. Do take the time to press or iron clothes, it does make a difference.

HAIR AND MAKE UP

I can arrange for a mobile make up artist to be there on the day, or you can have it done elsewhere yourself prior to the session, BUT you don’t always need professional make up. With a little at home prep and the right clothes you’ll look great. If you have a lot of hair a good blow dry can be a great way to present a more polished look. At the end of the day, it’s how you want to present yourself and what feels good to you. Be you, but a few attention to details like clean and pressed clothes can make all the difference.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Any props or tools of trade that might be useful. Maybe some trade magazines, swatches, mood boards anything that might tell your story visually and give you something to do with your hands.

  • 2 -3 outfit changes, include necklaces or different framed glasses, hats if that’s your style, different jackets anything that will help bring variety to your set

  • Your laptop and notebook or sketch book - things you might take to a client meeting

WHAT TO EXPECT

A super low pressure, light hearted and friendly experience. My aim is to be real and authentic and I know that most of my clients don’t love the camera - these are my people. I’ll do my best to relax you and guide you with some prompts. Commit to the experience and I hope you’'ll be delighted with the results. Do your prep, grab a coffee, show up and leave the rest to me. I’ll call you ahead of the session to make sure you’re feeling prepared. You should feel able to contact me at anytime by phone, text or email. I’m here to help you.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SESSION

Within 1 week you will receive a gallery of fully edited images which you can download in low and high resolution. I never share RAW images. I love if you credit me as photographer when sharing your images on line and in print. I hope you’ve found these tips helpful and maybe put you at ease a little. Having professional photos you love can be great for you and your brand. You’ll be wondering why you waited so long! I can’t wait to see you.
